The systems a business actually runs on.

Decia is a software consultancy in Helsinki. We take on the IT systems a company's day-to-day work depends on — and the responsibility for them.

What we do

Operative systems, end to end.

Operative systems are the ones a company can't work without — the software that carries orders, inventory, pricing, reporting and everything that has to be right on a Monday morning. We design them, build them, and stay with them once they're running.

We work end to end: from the first conversation about what the business needs, through architecture and build, into production and the years after. You don't have to write a specification, assemble a team or supervise one — tell us what the business needs and we take it from there.

Business-critical applications

Getting the right data to the right place at the right time — orders, stock, invoicing, reporting. We build the systems that do that, and we answer for them once they're running.

Enterprise architecture

Mapping how systems, data and processes actually fit together across an organisation, and what has to change before the next thing is built.

Solution architecture

Working out what should be built, what shouldn't, and what it will really cost to live with — before anyone commits a budget to it.

Project management

Running delivery end to end — scope, schedule, suppliers and the awkward conversations — so a project lands instead of drifting.

Long-running partnership

Working alongside in-house teams over years, where continuity matters more than a fixed scope.

How we work

Few people, high bar.

We have kept the team small on purpose. Everyone here is senior enough to own a problem outright — to sit with a client, work out what the business actually needs, get it built and answer for it once it's running. That is the only kind of person we hire, and it is why a team of our size can carry work that would normally be staffed several times over.

Our hands are currently full with a long-running client engagement, so we take on new work selectively.

Careers

We're short on people, not on work.

We're looking for solution architects and technical project managers — the people who sit with a client, work out what the business actually needs, and write it down clearly enough that it can be built, scheduled and paid for. Writing the code is the easier half of this job. Deciding what should be written is the half we're short of.

That takes enough technical depth to know what is realistic, and enough feel for a business to know what is worth doing at all. If you have spent years translating between the two and are tired of having your specification handed to someone else to water down, we should talk.

Our work sits in modern web and cloud — TypeScript, Node.js, Google Cloud. You would be designing in that world and defending those decisions to the people who build in it, so it has to be a world you have worked in yourself. A career spent in SAP, .NET or embedded systems is real experience and we would not pretend otherwise, but it does not carry across to this — and we would rather say so here than in a first interview.

In a team this small every hire changes what the company is, so we keep the process honest: clear expectations, pay stated up front, and a real answer either way.

Write to jobs@decia.net — tell us about a system you defined and what happened to it. Open applications are read even when no role is posted.
